Stop Sitting…Call a Walking Meeting Instead Statistically, you sit more than you sleep. As corporate director author  Nilofer Merchant explains in her TED Talk Got A Meeting? Take a Walk, we average 9.3 hours of sitting per day, which exceeds the  7.7 hours we sleep. She says its killing us, stating that  sitting has become the smoking of this generation. And she proposes a change. But before you watch Merchants inspiring 3-minute video below, consider the following: Researchers at Stanford University found that people were more creative when they were walking, versus sitting. A study at the University of Michigan reports  that people who spent time outside were better able to solve creative problems. The journal Environmental Science Technology published research showing that just 5 minutes outdoors can boost your mood Merchant reports that making the switch to walking meetings has changed her life.
